-
Is there a cost to attend?
Yes. There is a $50 registration fee for students who are accepted to the conference. This covers lodging, meals, transportation, and all conference activities. Fee waivers are available for students who request financial support during the application process.
-
Do I have to identify as part of the Black community to attend?
No. While VIBES centers the Black student experience, all students who are interested in attending college and participating in a culturally affirming space are welcome to apply.
-
How will I know if I’ve been accepted?
You will receive an official email from the VIBES team with your acceptance status approximately two to three weeks before the conference. This email will include next steps, travel details, and forms to complete.
-
Where will students stay during the conference?
Participants will stay in university-provided lodging during the weekend. All accommodations are supervised by trained student leaders and staff.
-
What if I don’t know anyone else attending?
That’s okay—and actually pretty common! Many students attend VIBES without knowing anyone beforehand. You’ll be placed in small groups and have the opportunity to connect with mentors and peers from across the state.
-
Will meals accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes. Meals are provided throughout the weekend, and we work with campus dining to accommodate dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies, etc.). You'll be able to share dietary needs on your application.
-
Do I need to bring money?
No. All major expenses are covered. If you choose, you may bring a small amount for snacks or items from the WSU Bookstore, but it is not required.
-
Can I attend if I’m not from Washington?
VIBES prioritizes students from Washington State. However, students from nearby regions may be considered depending on availability. Feel free to contact us before applying if you have questions.
-
What happens if I’m waitlisted?
If space opens up, waitlisted students will be contacted as soon as possible. We encourage you to apply again next year if you’re not selected this time.
